Hackney ACT is like a grassroots “Ofsted”
We look into safeguarding issues affecting children with African heritage in education. With your help we provide parents with a unique, anonymised snapshot of the racialising temperature of schools in Hackney by producing an annual audit.
“We believe it is essential to examine what is said, not just who is speaking.”
-
Identify
Our Audit provides students with an outlet to express views that may otherwise be hidden, whether they be good or bad. It enables us to identify specific education institutions that need help with addressing safeguarding issues.
-
Evaluate
Our Audit enables us to evaluate community-identified, safeguarding issues that require interventions. We do this by independently researching the scale and nature of any safeguarding issues.
-
Rectify
Our Audit guides us in locating and co-producing solutions by engaging with students, parents, educational and safeguarding professionals committed to seeing progressive, institutional change in the education system.
-
Share
Our Audit helps us to share lived experiences of students and concerns of their parents. We use the survey to amplify their voices and encourage work between them and other stakeholders to co-produce holistic solutions.
