“It is in revolutionary periods that the culmination of previous trends and the beginning of new ones appear”

- C.L.R James

Our Vision

In 2021, a 15-year-old girl only known as “Child Q” was violated by police officers and teachers while in a Hackney school. After learning of this, members of the African heritage community came together as community guardians to challenge and change the racist approaches to safeguarding that exist in the Hackney education system.

Representing Us

The African Community Taskforce (ACT) was formed in the wake of the racist abuse of Child Q. We collectively represent the concerns and aspirations of children, parents, carers and residents engaged with education in the London borough of Hackney.
